An unintended expatriate blogger behind Tran Quil Meadow

Hi, I'm Sofía
I work as a project manager. I'm a parent, and an expat based in Madrid, Spain.
A few years back, I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of life overseas.
How It Began
Relocating to Spain wasn't part of the long-term plan. Like many international moves, it started as a work opportunity and soon grew into something far larger.
The early months were demanding — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Daily tasks seemed more complex than they needed to be.
The Adaptation Phase
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning on the job. But gradually, routines took shape. We found places that fit us, met other families, and began building something that felt steady.
Why I Founded Tran Quil Meadow
Most online information was either corporate relocation guidance or shallow tourism content. What was missing was an honest, everyday family viewpoint.
This site exists to bridge that gap — practical advice drawn from real life in Spain.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site is:
- Hands-on experience from living in Spain
- Centered on family life and everyday realities
- Updated whenever a meaningful change occurs
This site isn't:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- Not a sponsored review platform
- Not a generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our time in Spain continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Madrid or anywhere in Spain, feel free to get in touch.
Best regards,
Sofía
